ANUAR CANAS - has been part of Latin Dancing scene since arriving to London in 1985 from Cali Colombia. Anuar's first UK performance was for "Colombian Volcano Appeal", charity concert taking place in the Royal Albert Hall with participation of major rock and pop stars. Winner of six UK Salsa competitions 1993-1995, dancer and teacher in his own right he exposes diversity of Latin Dance with his unique style.

LARISA BALOGH - Born in former USSR Larisa had surely very wide cultural upbringing. She was performing with different folkloric dance groups from very early age, before moving into competitive Latin-American dancing at the age of 12. Winner of Latin-American competitions in Russia and Czechoslovakia, having enjoyed successful dance carreer in St.Petersburg and Bratislava Larisa transferred her passion for Latin dance into Salsa.

 

Their potent fusion of Latin influences has continued to develop since creating a partnership in 1995 when they were offered an entertainment contract at "Down Mexico Way". Since then they have taught and performed Latin Dance and Salsa nationally and internationally, with televised sequences on Channel 4's "Capital Woman" and Son Sabor Galavision, the International Latin Music Channel. Some of their other credits include:

 

* Teaching and performing at the popular Pontins Salsa weekends

* Workshops and shows for the "Country Courage" weekend sponsored by Courage beer

* Showcases for Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre as part of their summer dance programme; 

* Masterclasses and entertainment for Holmes Place, David Lloyds, John Lewis Partnership, GlaxoSmithKline 

* Children Workshops at various schools across the country

* Teaching, shows and Carnival float choreographies for Festival del Pueblo

* Choreographing Rueda for Tropicana Competition

* Congress in Prague, Czech Republique

* Congress in Hensilborg, Sweden

* Festival in Goteborg, Sweden

 

 

With "Yurupari" Dance Co they have maintained their folk dance roots, performing nationwide at major Festivals. Their latest accolade was for a performance in Canterbury cathedral for the 13th Lambeth Conference, attended by Prince Charles and 300 Archbishops from around the world, all the LONDON festivals including Carnaval del Pueblo.

 

Their performances have been televised in "Capital Woman" programme on Channel 4, Carlton TV, SKY TV, and on "Son Sabor Galavision", a Latin music channel which transmits all over the world.

They hold many regular classes and Salsa events in London, and they organise Salsa Holidays to various countries abroad - Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rico etc. They have had the honour of participating in the largest Salsa Congresses in the world in Puerto Rico and Los Angeles.
 
As part of "Yurupari" Dance Co Anuar & Larisa have performed Mexican and Latinamerican Folk dance at nearly all Latin-American festivals across the country and for many major companies.Their latest achievement was a wildly acclaimed performance in the Canterbury cathedral for the 13th Lambeth Conference attended by Prince Charles and 300 Archbishops from around the world.
 
They regularly also work internationally with the world-renowned dance stars Magdalena & Geraldo, in their larger dance formations.
